Tribute & Message From The Family

Marie Patricia (McLellan) Tilden of Rockland passed away on the morning of June 9th, 2018, surrounded by family at her home after a brief illness.
Pat, as she was known best, was happily married to Charles Tilden Sr. for over 50 love-filled years. The daughter of the late William and Marie McLellan, she was raised in Cohasset with her Sisters Margaret Haley and her husband Richard of Texas, Betsey MacKay her husband Dana of Florida, and her late Brother Paul McLellan and his wife Esther now of Sharon. Pat was the proud mother to Charles "Chuck" Tilden Jr. and his wife Susan of Boston, and Marjorie Goodwin and her husband John of Halifax. She was the adored Grammie to her favorite people: Alyssa, Emily and Olivia Goodwin, and Seth and Matthew Tilden. She was also a loving aunt to her many nieces, nephews and their children.

Pat worked in the International Department of the First National Bank in Boston before becoming a Van Driver for the Rockland Public Schools for many years. She was the first Bus Driver in the town to put a Christmas wreath on the front of her van for the holiday season. After retiring, she began to work for the Town of Rockland as a School Crossing Guard, where she loved to hand out treats to the kids during the holidays.
A well-known member of Rockland, Pat was involved in the PM Club, the Mother's Club at Holy Family School, and also a member of the 20 T's Club. She was a regular volunteer at the Church Bazaar back in its heyday and was known around town not only for her delicious baked goods, but also her handmade creations. Pat was a volunteer leader for both Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. Also, she taught CCD in her home where the kids always loved coming to her house for the great homemade snacks she provided.

Pat spent many hours knitting and crocheting all sorts of items for friends, relatives and strangers alike. Although her favorite things to make were baby items, many people have one of her Irish Knit Sweaters to keep with them forever. She also made quilts and rugs, some of which are still being used in the family home today.

Visiting hours will be at Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home on Wednesday June 13, 2018 from 5 PM to 8 PM at 135 Union Street in Rockland, MA. A Funeral Service will be held at Holy Family Church on Thursday June 14, 2018 at 9 AM at 403 Union Street in Rockland, MA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Pat's honor to Hospice of the South Shore, 30 Reservoir Park Drive, Rockland, MA, 781-624-7080.
