Tribute & Message From The Family

Jeanne T. (McSheffrey) Barghout, of Rockland, died on January 10, 2019 at Season's Hospice in Milton.  She was born in Boston to the late Bernard and Gertrude (Ryan) McSheffrey.  She was raised and educated in Braintree and graduated from Braintree High School.

Jeanne was a parishioner at Rockland's Holy Family Church for many years and her strong faith sustained her during her treatment journey. Survived by her sister Marcia Hogan of Rockland, Neil McSheffrey of NH, Brian McSheffrey of AL, and Dan McSheffrey of FL; also survived by Elisa Barghout of Randolph, Andrea Foley of Norwell, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Alexander S. Barghout, and her sister, Judith White.

Jeanne worked as a Promotional Manager for the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission for 28 years before she retired in 2015. She could always make people laugh with her unique sense of humor, and her most joyous times were shopping and traveling with friends.  Her passion for politics forged her role as former Chairwoman for the Rockland Democratic Town Committee. Jeanne loved animals, particularly Greyhound dogs, and will be missed by her faithful Greyhound dog, "Boss".

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, 403 Union Street, Rockland on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 9 a.m.   Internment to follow at Braintree Cemetery.

Donations in Jeanne's memory can be made to Greyhound Rescue of N.E., Inc.
P.O. Box 507, Mendon, MA 01756, www.greyhoundrescuene.org

Those close to Jeanne want to thank her friends Kathy Green, Katy Sclafani, Chris Silcox, Jerry Callahan, and Mike Kelly for their help and support of Jeanne, especially during her treatment journey.

I'M SO VERY SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT JEANNE. WE MET YEARS AGO IN DORCHESTER WHEN SHE WAS WAITRESSING. WHAT A FUNNY LADY! EVERY TIME WE WERE TOGETHER WE'D ALWAYS LAUGH ABOUT SOMETHING. ALL WE HAD TO DO WAS TO LOOK AT EACH OTHER AND WE'D LAUGH ! IT SEEMED THAT AT EVERY FUNCTION I WAS AT SHE WAS THERE...MOSTLY BOWLING BANQUETS! WE CAUGHT SIGHT OF EACH OTHER AND SAID "OH NO - NOT AGAIN" WHILE LAUGHING OUR HEADS OFF.
I TOO HAD THE PLEASURE OF WORKING AT THE LOTTERY WITH JEANNE. MANY GREAT MEMORIES !

MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU NOW AND YOUR LOVING FAMILY AND FRIENDS FOREVER.

GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU

So sorry to hear about Jeanne. I worked with her many years at the Lottery - we had many laughs over the years. I've missed her since I left. Also, Mrs. McSheffrey worked for my dad for years. I remember Mr. & Mrs. McSheffrey so well. Sad time for your family, I'm sorry.
