Tribute & Message From The Family

Mary Rose passed peacefully, on September 22nd at the age of 94. Mary was born and raised in Quincy, MA, where she met and married Victor(Vic) DiRado. They were married for nearly 60 years, at the time of Vics's passing in 2006,

Mary has lived in her Rockland home for 64 years, raising her two children, Marilyn Clawson and her husband Jim of North Andover, MA and Stephen DiRado and his wife Ann Carver, MA. Mary's greatest satisfaction came from the growth and achievements of her four grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren.

Mary was an avid and knowledgeable sports fan (Go Patriots), bowler, line dancer and although she never played golf enjoyed watching it on TV. She worked for over 20 years at the Rockland High School, retiring in 1986 as secretary to Scott MacKinlay, Principal of Rockland High School. She was friend to those she came in contact with, adding something genuine to those relationships.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Christopher and his wife Rebecca, Mark and his wife Roberta, Sara Silverberg and her husband Paul of Carver and Courtney Costa and her husband Jeffrey of Epping, NH and her great grandchildren, Lucas, Alex, Nathan, Molly DiRado, Aspen Silverberg all of Carver, Avery and Caden Costa of Epping, NH.

She is also survived by her sisters, Theresa Pasquale of Braintree, Phyllis Parker of Merrimack, NH, Anna Rao of Malden, MA and Barbara Bucchianeri of Quincy, MA and was pre-deceased by brothers Joseph Valenti of California and Carl Valenti of Centerville, MA.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the many caregivers that provided exceptional support and allowed Mary to stay in her home over the last several years. Her compassion and caring will be sorely missed by family and friends.

Arrangements are under the care of Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home in Rockland. Visiting hours will be Sunday, September 27 from 4:00-7:00PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00AM on Monday, September 28 at the Holy Family Church in Rockland, taking into consideration the restrictions imposed due to the Covid pandemic. Burial will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Mary was a wonderful person. I enjoyed waiting on her at CVS for many years. She always had a smile on her face and very friendly. My condolences to all of her family.

My beloved sister, Mary. How I will miss you and your beautiful smile. I wish we could have visited more often but you were always on my mind and will always be in my heart. My husband Jack will miss talking politics with you. He laughed to see how angry you would get about the things happening. She sure was on the ball and up to date on everything. We have our mother's genes, and I pray I live the wonderful 94 years that you did. Love you so very much. Your sister, Phyllis and husband Jack Parker

As a latecomer to the luncheon group, I didn't know Mary well, but I do know this, she was well-loved, and will be missed.

I have very fond memories of Mary as she was a regular for many years at my hair salon! She always had a smile and a good story. She was a great listener as well. My sincere condolences to all of her family. I know how much you'll miss her. RIP Mary

Please let me express my sympathy to the DiRado family. Although I never had the opportunity to meet Mary Rose, I have had the opportunity to meet her son Steve. Mary Rose did a great job raising a great friend. Rest in Peace Mary Rose.

Marilyn, Your mom (and dad) had an exceptional way of making everyone feel valued and special. Both made a lasting impression on me and I'll never forget them. Your mom was so full of life and love. People like her are few and far between: the salt of the earth. My sympathy goes out to you and your family.

Mrs. DiRado was always so lovely and kind to me. Every Sunday after mass we would invariably see each other in the parking lot and she never missed an opportunity to compliment me, and say hello. She was so kind and friendly to everyone she met. I will always be grateful for how sweet she was to my Mom. May she rest in peace and may you all be comforted by knowing she is with God. My most heartfelt condolences to all of her family/

To know Mary was to love her. We worked together for many years and I learned quickly that she loved and respected our students and staff at Rockland High School. Her people person skills earned her the respect of all she came in contact with. They say, it takes a minute to find a special person. an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but an entire life to forget them. Sally and I will never forget Mary!

Mary was a special person in my life, having known her for more than 50 years. It was through her and Marilyn that I came to Rockland in 1972 and was given the opportunity to help establish WRPS(FM) & TV. I will be forever grateful for her confidence and trust. My sincere condolences to the entire family and many blessings!
