Tribute & Message From The Family

Lorraine Mary Fitzgerald, 59, passed away suddenly in her home in Murrell's Inlet, South Carolina. She was born in Limerick, Ireland to Timothy and Josephine (Real) Fitzgerald, both deceased. When Lorraine was just four years old the family moved to America, residing in Rockland, Massachusetts. She is survived by her two sons, Timothy Martino of Weymouth and his girlfriend Ashley, Nicholas Martino and his wife Caitlyn of Leominster, and her three sisters, Deirdre Lenihan and her husband Will of Rockland, Eileen Levangie and her husband Pete of Rockland, and Josephine Foley and her husband Steve of Carver. She also leaves behind a niece and many loving nephews.

Growing up in Rockland, Lorraine always loved the sun and would enjoy the outdoors as often as possible sitting by her pool or on one of many family camping trips. Four years ago, she made one of her dreams come true by moving to South Carolina, which she discovered while taking a long road trip with her son Nic in an RV. On that trip she fell in love with the warmth and beaches of the Myrtle Beach area and has enjoyed living there since.
Lorraine was very close with her two sons. They were the light of her life and made her life whole. When they were young, she spent most of her waking hours with them, playing with them and taking them with her everywhere. During her normal shopping trips, she would bring them along so they could go visit the toy aisle and play. On these trips they loved to play tricks on her and would hide in the clothing racks and jump out to scare her. They always enjoyed their time together. She appreciated them immensely and was extremely proud of them.

As much as her sons were her joy, she was also a bright light in her boys' lives, always the best mother she could be. She made sure they knew they were always first in her life. No matter what was going on in her life she always made the effort to attend their sports games, to enjoy family vacations such as Disney World and Universal Studios, and to encourage her children to live their best lives. Lorraine was not one to fear doing anything on her own and encouraged her children the same. While on one of those family vacations she encouraged her son Tim to audition for the Fear Factor competition, which he would never have done without her support and tenacity. Tim not only auditioned but was chosen to participate in the competition and celebrated every moment with his Mom.
Lorraine allowed her sons to live their best lives and let them make their own decisions and sometimes their own mistakes. She stood by and offered advice and guidance when needed but taught them how to navigate life as individuals. Lorraine's sons will remember her loving guidance and support, her efforts to always be there when they needed her, and her remarkable strength.

Lorraine was fiercely independent, incredibly strong, and led her life the way she wanted. She was always true to herself and her family. She had an infectious laugh that will be forever remembered. She loved to dance, and she loved to watch horror films. St. Patrick's Day was one of her favorite holidays and she always enjoyed celebrating her heritage with friends and family. She enjoyed making people smile and was an avid crafter who would often surprise her family with creative homemade wreaths, jewelry, and handmade decorations. Lorraine was a positive spirit who will live in our hearts forever. She will be dearly missed by all her friends and loved ones.

Condolence & Memory Journal

Being the youngest of four sisters, Lorraine was 12 years older than me. She moved out of our house when I was six years old. I remember only bits of when she lived at home. Growing up she was our babysitter. I'm sure she got tired of it but she always took care of us. I got to really know Lor as we got older. I admired her fearlessness. She took risks. She would do whatever she wanted to when she wanted to. She was handed a lot in life to deal with but she was courageous and strong. She was an inspiration to all of us. I loved her and will miss her dearly.

She will be sorely missed by Sabrina and I. She could always make me laugh and enjoyed our cookouts and campfires. She talked about her sons and how proud she was of them. God bless
