Obituary

Ivy Kathleen Foshey, a long-time resident of Moncrief Rd. Rockland died on May 3. Her health had been deteriorating over the last few months and she passed peacefully at Webster Park, Rockland.

She is survived by her 3 children: Ivy K Matheny of Halifax, Charles E Foshey, Jr. of Pembroke, William K. Foshey of Marion, her 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren who reside in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Ivy was born the daughter William Arthur Snelling Sr. and Iris Maude PlummerSnelling/ on September 22, 1926 in Norwich, England. She had 6 brothers, Alan, Harold, Raymond, Maurice, David, and William and 3 sisters Audrey, Irene, and Olive.
Ivy is also survived in England by her three brothers, Raymond, Maurice, David, 24 nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews as well.

Ivy met Charles E. Foshey, Sr. while he was stationed in Norwich with the Army Air Force. They married in Norwich and settled back here in the states. Ivy
naturalized as a US Citizen on August 13, 1956 in Boston. They started their family in Boston before moving out to the Burbs. Ivy was an excellent cook. She loved to sew and knit. She loved swimming and gardening.
She was always supportive and helpful and dotted on her children. It was a terribly busy time, ferrying the kids to ponds to swim and fish, scouting events, and the YMCA. Always helpful, always volunteering at school, church and as a den mother as well.
Ivy attended secondary school in Norwich and once her children were older, she studied accounting at Massasoit Community College. She worked as an accountant and eventually retired from the Charles Eaton CO.
Once her retirement started in earnest she traveled in the States and Europe, sightseeing, taking many pictures and always documenting her travels. She had several "travel friends" that she traveled with.

Ivy always traveled back to her family in Norwich to visit her sisters, brothers, and family. Her sisters and brothers also visited her here. There was always beach time and cookouts. They traveled the states and Canada as well.
Ivy was a parishioner at Holy Family Church in Rockland. Throughout her life Ivy drew her strength from her faith as a devout Catholic. She was a member of sodality and a Eucharistic Minister.
Mom loved to sing and was a member of the Choir at Holy Family Church. She also sang with her group of friends in the Opel's singing at luncheons and events in the area retirement homes.

Ivy will be interned at a private ceremony at Holy Family Cemetery. Donations can be made to Catholic Charities.
