John F. Glynn, 82 of Norwell died on April 7, 2017 at the Cardigan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scituate. He was born in Boston, son of the late John and Margaret (Waters) Glynn. He was raised and educated in the Dorchester and Fields Corner sections of the city where he formed his larger than life personality. He attended Boston Tech High School and later attended Northeastern University.
Mr. Glynn worked as a methods engineer at Boston Gear Works and later was employed in the Norwell Public School system. He was well known and very involved in the Norwell Little League having served as a coach for many years as well as serving on the Board of Directors as Vice-President. Jack spent many summers at West Bridgewater coaching teams in summer tournaments. He developed many of the Norwell High players that would go on to be the 1976 state baseball champions, the first and only Norwell team to accomplish that achievement. He was also instrumental in the founding of Norwell Youth Hockey.
Jack was predeceased by his wife Ann E. (Murray) Glynn his son John Glynn, daughter Annie Glynn and his son-in-law Jimmy Mueller. He is survived by his son Chris Glynn and his wife Kathi of Hanover, daughters Terri Glynn Mueller of Hanson, Erin P. Glynn of Boston and Kathleen M. Glynn of Florida. He was the brother of Don Glynn and his wife Nancy of Florida and is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
The family would like to express gratitude to the Cardigan Rehabilitation Center, Norwell Visiting Nurses Association and Amedisy's Hospice Care.
The family welcomes friends and relatives to celebrate his life on Saturday April 22, 2017 at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street Rockland from 3:00-5:00.
