Obituary

Norman M. MacDonald, 90 of Rockland died on April 28, 2017 after a period of failing health. He was born in Boston, son of the late Stewart and Helen (Morse) MacDonald. Mr. MacDonald was raised and educated in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston. Norman was a proud veteran of our nations armed services serving in The United Stated Navy during World War II.

Mr. MacDonald worked as a Fire Sprinkler Fitter for many years as a member of the Local #550 Sprinkler Fitters Union. In his retirement, Norman also worked for many years at the Abington and Rockland Stop and Shop Stores.

Norm was a member of the Rockland VFW, The Abington American Legion #0112, was a 4th Degree member of The Weymouth Knights of Columbus, and a Golden Eagle Member of The Rockland Fraternal Order of Eagles #841.

Mr. MacDonald was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams, the Red Sox, and the New York Giants. Norman is remembered by all who had the pleasure to know him, as an incredibly kind, caring and generous man. On any occasion that Norm would encounter a young child, he was always prepared to make their day with the gift of a few Dollar bills.

Mr. MacDonald was the Husband of the late June M. (Harzbecker) MacDonald. Father of Norman S. MacDonald of Brockton, Steven R. MacDonald of Rockland, June "Patty" Donnelly and her Husband Hugh of Rockland, Janice H. Nihill and her Husband Richard of Marshfield, Brian M. MacDonald and his late wife Barbara of Rockland, Robert B. MacDonald and his Wife Joan of Rockland,, Jamie A. Graham and her late Husband Fred of Rockland, Jill C. Schneider and her Husband Thomas of Rockland, Mary P. Grover and her Husband Donald of Rockland, and the late B. Paul MacDonald. Also survived by 33 Grandchildren, 52 Great Grandchildren, and many Nieces and Nephews.

The family welcomes family and friends to celebrate his life on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street in Rockland. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday May 3, 2017 at 9:00 AM at Holy Family Church. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery in Rockland.
