Carol A. (Roberts) Murphy, 93 of Rockland died on November 15, 2016 at Queen Anne Nursing Home in Hingham. She was born in Boston, daughter of Harry and Alice (Reidy) Roberts, was raised in Weymouth and graduated from Weymouth High School. She is predeceased by her husband John F "Jack" Murphy and her son John F Murphy, Jr.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Stefani and her husband Richard of Hanover and three grandchildren: Anne (Monti) Knapp of Beverly, Robert Monti and his wife Robin of Norton and Julie (Stefani) Kaviar and her husband Eric of Brookline. She was also the loving great-grandmother of seven children.
As an avid reader she was able to combine her love of books and children during her career in the Rockland School Department for twenty-one years in the McKinley, Memorial Park and Esten school libraries. She was member of the Holy Family Church Parish Council from 1994 - 1997, the Friends of South Shore Hospital and several book clubs. Throughout her life she loved flowers, birds and the ocean.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life at a Funeral Mass on Friday, November 18 at 11am at Holy Family Church, 403 Union Street, Rockland MA 02370. A private burial service will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carolʼs memory to the Holy Family Church.
