Olga Rudziak Smith

In her own words…..

"Don't cry for me, I had an extraordinary life!"

I am a proud product of Russian immigrants. My mother Elena Tarremova who was 16 and my dad Dmitri Rudziak (Rhoudyack) at 18 came to Ellis Island where they are honored on the American Immigrant Wall of Honor – DMITRI RUDZIAK- ELENA TAMERA – both on panel 643. My older sister Vera, my brother Nicholas and I grew up in Maynard, Ma in a single family home in a country setting. My dad died when I was 8 and my mom never remarried until I graduated from high school, then she had my other brother and sister, Paul and Sonia. Easter and Russian Christmas were important family celebrations that I loved sharing with the family of my own.

Thank you my God for the incredible journey of Life, Love and Amazing Friendships that got me to ski (my passion). Always catching the "first" ski lift at Cannon Mt. with my best friends Claire, David First, and Paul Parker. And how we celebrated life, with those pitchers of manhattans at cocktail time.

My life took many highways – JOY – JOY – JOY - Of Old Colony Ski Club and skiing Cannon Mountain, and out West in the Canadian Rockies, and off to the Swiss and Austrian Alps. The many special times we shared in Arlington Vermont. Laughs with my bowling friends and winning a nickel or two playing Bridge with the girls. My claim to fame is "a hole in one" in a tournament at Braintree Golf Course that I ended up with the lowest score – of course this is a bit of Bravado, but what a memory!!

My life was filled with Love! And that's what I most want to convey to everybody – my family, friends, special people I met over time and to my beloved husband Al, and to my wonderful children, David and Stephen and Tracy and Renee, and Rachael, Matthew, Nicholas, Patrick, Samantha, Devin and Elizabeth, my fabulous family in Vt. who all filled my life with years of loving precious memories!

David and Stephen – Fantastic years! I remember skiing as a family and wondering when you two would join us on the trail to our right from the woods!!! Oh what glorious fun and memories/much thanks for those and so many never forgotten memories – locked in my heart!!!

To Al – In my life with you as my "caretaker" for so many memorable years I have never told you but you are the sun and the moon and the earth and God's GREATEST gift!!

Love to all!

On Wednesday August 22, 2018, at 96 years young, Mom joined her very special friends; Ruthie, Claire, Helen, Barbara, Mum McNeil, Evelyn, Al & Annette, Audi and Carol, Paul, Jeannie, and many more….

She is uniquely Olga and she touched all of our lives!! If you happen to pass by Cannon Mountain, say a quick hello to Olga, the most wonderful person in the world!!!

We'll have fondue by the fire this year and we know you'll be there singing "five GOLDEN rings"!

We love you MOM!!!

Al, David, Stephen (and Olga says – "Have a GREAT day!")
