Obituary

Ms. Theresa F. (Jordan) Murray of Norwell, MA passed away peacefully Saturday, December 12, 2020 after a long battle with cancer. She was 81 years old.
Theresa was born in Cambridge, MA on July 19, 1939 to Irish immigrant parents the late John Jordan and Bridget (O'Shea) Jordan and she was one of seven children. She grew up on Holly Avenue in Cambridge and attended St. Mary's High School. She married and settled in Rockland, MA to raise her family. After her retirement, her later years were spent in Norwell.

Our Mom had so many traits we admired and we feel honored and privileged to have been her daughters. Her enormous strength and perseverance in handling life's ups and downs and her fierce determination was exceptionally special. No matter what obstacle came her way she always pushed forward even in the hardest of times. The past three years was a great struggle with her health. We are still in awe that she survived Covid19 while receiving cancer treatments which confirms her incredible courage and resilience. One of her greatest gifts was her ability to forgive. She always said, " It doesn't help to hold a grudge." Loving us unconditionally; we were blessed with the best mother we could have asked for. "Tree Fran" or simply, "Tree" as she was affectionately called by family and friends, had a great sense of humor. We have many funny stories we'd like to share but we will be saving those for her eulogy.

She also had the gift of gab. She loved to talk and would often be found hosting afternoon tea with many of our friends who would stop to visit when we weren't home. We'd come home to find her chatting it up with a cup of hot tea for her guest and lending an ear (if you could get a word in). Hopefully, you were lucky enough to be there at the right time that she had made one of her Irish Breads. She has passed that recipe to us girls and we make it frequently for our families.
She was very fond of animals and her two dogs Duncan and Oscar meant everything to her. Sometimes we thought she liked the dogs better than us.
She was always was so very proud of her Irish heritage. She also had great faith in God and lived her life as a true Irish Catholic.

She took great pride in us daughters and especially her grandchildren. Always saying we and the grandchildren were her greatest gift in life.
Her Thanksgiving dinner was hard to beat. Her pasta salad, which was a favorite of all and will also be handed down to the next generation. We all loved her dearly and she will hold a special place in our hearts forever.

She leaves three daughters, Christine A. Armand and her husband Troy of East Bridgewater; Patricia Mullen and her husband Joseph of Rockland and Janet Adduci and her husband William of Carver; her grandchildren, Rebecca Mullen and Kevin, Austin and Anna Adduci. She also leaves her siblings; Jack Jordan and his wife Mary of Mashpee, Patricia Hoffer and her husband Donald of East Falmouth, Jim Jordan and his late wife Irene of Waltham, Edward Jordan and his wife Lorraine of East Falmouth, and many cherished nieces, nephews and friends.

She will be united with her father, mother, brother and sister the late John and Bridget Jordan, Austin Jordan and Mary Jordan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Theresa's memory to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02215 or Scituate Animal Shelter, 780 Chief Justice Cushing Highway, Scituate, MA 02066.
